Personal Mastery or Self Mastery – What Is It?

Well, Personal mastery or self-mastery is all about how you approach your life from an altered viewpoint. You could say that it is a voyage of continuous self- development. It is directed by key values like, personal purpose, vision, an obligation to truth and understanding, and the intuitive mind.

Subconscious Mind Power – Three Set Blocks to Avoid

Subconscious mind power, the power of the mind, is vast beyond our wildest imaginings. Yet it can be limited and blocked by negative thoughts, thoughts of your failures, thoughts of self doubt, worrying thoughts.

Improve Interpersonal Skills – Develop Your Communication Skills in the Workplace

Interpersonal skills are about building self-confidence and growing relationships. It is also about how your manager and colleagues perceive you as a person which then plays a significant role in areas as minor as your daily general happiness at the workplace and as important as to how your career eventually unfolds. Effective interpersonal skills is a must at work.

You Have No Right

“You have no right to ask when sorrow comes, ‘Why did this happen to me?’, unless you ask the same question for every moment of happiness that comes your way.” (Unknown) And in all honesty, how many of us can say that we greet tragedy and triumph with the same welcome? I’m sure very few of us, after all, we’re human. And part of being human is to feel emotion, right? Well if you want the truth, the answer is ‘yes and no’. Yes, we are here to be human, and a big part of that experience is to have emotions, and that includes feeling pain occasionally. But no, we don’t have to experience suffering – suffering is optional.

Do You Measure Up?

Wait….before you answer the question, we need to clarify what exactly we’re measuring, right? You go first….what were you thinking of when you read the title? If you’re like most people, you were thinking of how you measure up, using society’s measuring tape of intelligence, educational accomplishments, body size/shape, beauty, style, career type and position, amount of money you earn, type of house you live in, etc. But as is true of most of my questions, I had a different meaning in mind when I asked it – and I have a fortune cookie to thank for my perspective (true story!).

Having Problems Is Not a Problem

“The problem is not that there are problems. The problem is expecting otherwise and thinking that having problems is a problem.” (Theodore Rubin) If we can anticipate that life will have its share of troubles, then we won’t be surprised or annoyed when they actually show up. The pain comes from expecting that our life will be trouble-free….that expectation is what creates our suffering. When we can accept whatever happens, whatever obstacles (or helpers) appear in our path, then we will feel more at peace.

Change Into Who You Are

It’s time to “stop being who you were and change into who you are.” (Paul Coelho) Even if you’re not sure who you are, you can certainly look back at the past year and see who you were. And from that perspective, you can decide what aspects of your personality no longer work for you, what characteristics or behaviors you’d like to let go of and leave behind, and what qualities or skills that you’d like to grow and develop further. The cool thing is: you don’t have to have all the answers in order to get started!

How Did I Get Here (or Why Am I So Unhappy)?

I recently reconnected with a distant relative, and he was very unhappy with his life. He lamented to me, “How did I get here? This isn’t the way I planned for my life to be. What happened?” And while most people would assume that the answer lay in some major “fork in the road” decision that he had made somewhere along his life’s path, I knew differently. You are where you are in life as a result of all the little choices, the tiny decisions that you made day in and day out for x number of years.
